Hidden Villa is a real gem in the Silicon Valley. Nested in the beautiful hills of Los Altos is a non profit educational organization founded by Frank and Josephine Duveneck in 1924 (http://www.hiddenvilla.org/about-us/what-is).
It has eight mile trails and the most exciting thing is that they offer a wide variety of educational programs for kids.
Some weeks ago we went there with our two kids (7 and 3) for the “farm tour” program. The guide was very kind and prepared. Children were enthusiastic to meet and touch the animals.
There were cows, pigs, sheeps, chickens, goats…
The tour lasts about one hour and half and it’s very insightful. I really recommend it.
Hidden Villa also offers many other events. For example we’ll participate to the “Cow WOW” program for age 5 and up, fantastic for kids interested in learning how to milk and feed the cow Cleo.
Last but not least they offer summer camps for kids of different ages. Older ones will stay for one week day and night, younger ones will stay just during the day enjoying one night sleeping under the stars.
Young kids needs to enjoy nature, it’s one of the best way for them to learn and feed their curiosity. Hidden Villa is a safe place to do that, close to town but still in the wild. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
